Larry Norton

Dr. Larry Norton, BCRF’s Scientific Director, serves as the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center and Senior Vice President, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In addition to serving as BCRF’s Scientific Director, Dr. Norton is engaged in collaborations with several BCRF investigators aimed at improving treatments in breast cancer. His research is broad, but he is best known for mathematical modeling in therapeutic development. Dr. Norton recently launched a novel initiative, Mathematics in Cancer, that is pairing mathematicians to work alongside basic researchers and clinicians to better understand breast cancer.

Elizabeth Comen

Dr. Elizabeth Comen is a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Comen treats patients with all stages of breast cancer, conducts research and clinical trials. Dr. Comen’s BCRF funded research is seeking to develop a blood-based test that can accurately detect and classify breast cancer. Dr. Comen’s project is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Sohail Tavazoie at the Rockefeller University. If their research turns out as hypothesized, it may lead to a non-invasive screening tool that can help detect breast cancer and response to treatments.
